We are pleased to announce the ForestSAT 2018 conference hosted by the University of Maryland and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center at the newly completed Hotel at the University of Maryland, just minutes from Washington DC. ForestSAT has become the pre-eminent conference on the application of spatial analysis and remote sensing technologies for forest monitoring, modeling and description. Previous conferences have been held in Chile (2016), Italy (2014), USA (2012), Spain (2010), France (2007), Sweden (2005), Scotland (2002), and ForestSAT 2018 continues this long tradition of bringing together international scientists, stake holders, and policy makers from research organizations, universities, public agencies, NGOs and the private sector.

We have arranged Buses that will approach from the two Hotels that we have established agreement to the venue of the conference. The Hotels are:

• Hotel Park Plaza Santiago located at Avenida Ricardo Lyon 207 Providencia, Santiago. See Map.
• Hotel Park Plaza Bonaparte located at Mar del Plata 2171, Providencia, Santiago. See Map.

All ForestSAT 2016 participants can use these Buses. If you will take a bus, please indicate the location and days when you will use it ​​via email to info@forestsat2016.com

The departure time of the buses will be:

• Tuesday 15: 7:30 Am.
• Wednesday 16 to Friday 18: 7:45 Am.

The return will be at the end of every workind day. See updated Program.

Another not official option is go to the Subway Station "Vespucio Norte" (Line 2) and walk up to the Bus Station "Intermodal Vespucio Norte" and take the buses of the Universidad Mayor at the Anden #1. The schedule of these buses in the morning are: 7:20, 7:30, 7:45, 8:00, 8:15, 8:30, 9:00 & 9:30 hrs. These buses are Free.

ECOTOURISM

Chillan, historic city located 400 km to the south of Santiago, offers in its mountains, beautiful environments to enjoy its trails. The rich flora and fauna, a great complex of active volcanoes, rivers, glaciers and extensive and old growth forests justify that international organizations (BirdLife International, Nature Conservancy, WWL) declared it as Biosphere Reserve and Biological Corridor, considered a site priority for biodiversity conservation. With a high endemism of flora and fauna, in Shangri-La is possible find more than 30 species of Alstroemeria.

A bus will depart from Santiago on Friday November 18 at 17 Pm and will travel the beautiful countryside between Santiago and Chillan. The estimated time of arrival to the cottages will be at 22:00 pm. The guests will be greeted with a tasty dinner with typical Chilean food and can sleep and rest to start the tour the next day, Saturday 19 November. Excursions and walks to the thermal pools will be held on Saturday and Sunday. The return to Santiago will be held on Sunday 20 November at 18 hours to arrival Santiago approximately 23 hours.

The Conference Dinner will be the most captivating social event of the ForestSAT 2016 Conference and Exhibition week.
